You can get a 2014 Z51 with MRC and performance upgraded exhaust in the high 40's now, so forget about whoever is trying to sell you a base C7. Look at the cars for sale by members on the corvette forum and you will see them pop up and get sold.
Also, I would stay away from a 2014 C7 if I could and go with a 2015. I was in the same boat but was looking at 2015 2LT Z51's with the options I listed above. Those that are selling quick are in the mid to low 50's.
This is a personal decision that you have to make. I went with the Camaro because it was a better value for my purposes. I don't want a car loan and also want to keep a certain amount of cash on hand. Buying a more expensive car was over my budget. You might want to take a step back and look at the big picture because in a few years either car will have depreciated greatly and the bloom falls off the rose as they say....
