I think there's some wishful thinking regarding the 1LE getting within 2 seconds of Z/28 (and the GT350R by extension) simply because those cars have MUCH stickier tires and serious aero.

I think the 1LE will have similar performance to the gen5 ZL1, which was 3 seconds faster around VIR than the gen5 1LE. To come close to the Z/28, the new 1LE has to be 10 full seconds faster than the last gen 1LE - and, according to Chevy, the new SS (which is supposed to have similar lap times to the gen5 1LE) <- unless I'm getting this wrong and they said ZL1..?

C&D VIR lap times
gen5 Z/28 - 2:50.9
gen5 ZL1 - 2:57.5 ... gen6 1LE +/- 0.5sec (?)
(edit) ATS-V - 2:59.2
(edit) M4 - 3:00.7 ... I doubt the SS will "destroy" the M4, maybe beat by a couple of tenths
gen5 1LE - 3:01.5 ... gen6 1SS with MRC +/- 0.5sec
