I'm using non-switched off the mirror. Sadly, my multi-meter only had enough battery for me to verify +12V and so I used that. The wires are red with a white strip and black, if I remember correctly. If you find +12V switched in the bundle, I'm interested in knowing what they were.
And yes, that is the MirrorTap cable I used.
The pins are a bit difficult to get into the connector. If you've got a jeweler's screwdriver that might help by pressing the crimped side of the connectors down to get a little bit of room.
