Yes, it is an opinion. But this is a fact:
The A8 will outsell the M6, and it will do so because of necessity. Most Americans cannot operate a clutch. If every American knew how to operate a clutch, there would be a serious reduction in A8 sales and a serious increase in M6 sales. The fact is, there are huge numbers of people that will buy an A8 and really want an M6 but never admit it, and there will be hardly any M6 drivers that would want an A8 outside of maybe once or twice at a drag strip. Many Gen 6 owners will pay an extra $1500 and get two things: an A8 and Regret.
Vehicle manufacturers are acutely aware of this "automatic transmission regret" phenomenon and that's why paddle shifters exist. They are some luke-warm sense of accomplishment.
