Question Regarding How Incentives Work for the Dealer
Ok, so I see that military discount is up and active for the 2016 Camaro. I ordered a 2SS, arrived at the dealer yesterday and I am currently deployed overseas so my father is going to pick it up for me in a few days. I spoke to my dealer who said they honor the Military Discount but not for the 2016 Camaro which I thought was odd. I signed up on the GMmilitarydiscount site and have my authorization number and a printout of the 2016 2SS configured exactly like my car with the MSRP and Military pricing which I am going to have him take with him when he picks it up.
My main question is, so I can give him all the ammo I can, is what would cause a dealer to not want to honor this discount? I am not a sales/dealer expert but I would imagine since this is a GM discount that GM would have to 'reimburse' the dealer for the cost of the discount. Am I wrong in this? Or does the dealer have to take a hit on the discount through this program and does it cause the dealer to lose money and that is why they are reluctant?
I hope someone on here can answer this question for me because I really don't see why a dealer would participate in a program but not honor the discount for a specific model if GM is saying its ok. Thanks!
