It is extremely rare for dealerships to give you anything fair on a trade in. Nothing personal, it's pure business. They only accept trade in's on their terms, aka being able to flip for profit.

My suggestion is to flat out sell it by owner. Pay the 150 bucks for autotrader, free ad for craigslist, spread the word, etc. Instead of trading in my 2014 evo gsr, i sold it privately and got 6 grand more than I would've trading (modified evo, 408 whp on 91 octane).

Also, keep in mind that check with your State AND county. While I currently live in Wichita, i used to live in Arkansas. In AR, you have 60 days AFTER selling your current vehicle to purchase a new/used vehicle after and STILL get a tax break. You just need to provide your own bill of sale.
