You should add an important caveat to this:

Unless it can be proven that said modification caused the failure.

Yup, just go ask all the early adopters of really lean tunes for their brand new 2011 5.0 GT's that lead to a myriad of problems. Some dealers fixed them, some dealers didn't.

If you're dealer says no, it will probably enter that into the system, and even if you try another dealer, it will be on record. Your only choice is then to sue them, and who do you think has deeper pockets, you or GM?

It's a roll of the dice, and you shouldn't play if you can't afford to lose with the worst outcome. It could happen to you.
