No need to recertify, a very good engine, that you already have, in the parts bin.
Just make it stronger, for the performance crowd, & the marketing boost, it will give.
After looking at all the info, that GM has released, on this engine, I can't find any info, on the stock pistons, as used, in the Gen6
Maybe because it was a late engineering change.
Has anyone looked for more info on this engine, as used in the new Gen6 Camaro ??
The expense of forged pistons, is very small, compared to the volume of cars,
that they will sell, with this base engine.
So they might as well, make it very dependable, & it will be an excellent marketing point, so guys won't be afraid of modding it.
After all, this is being made, for the performance enthusiast, who might hesitate, to but, if they think, that they will blow a piston.
Plus, they will offer a very 'robust', Stage 1 tuning kit, that will up the power,
to levels, that will really need, the forged pistons.
Lots of money to be made, in GM, aftermarket performance parts.
