Just a little history on the hash stripes. Back in the 60s they were used in Le Mans racing to indicate the side of the car the steering wheel was on. The number of stripes indicated the car in the race team (1, 2, 3). Now when you see them taped on like that it is usually an indication that the driver is new to the car and he/she needs a way to line up his "line of sight" with the center of the front wheel. Once he/she is comfortable with the driving dynamics they pull them off. So, the fact you see them in some shots and not others doesn't indicate they are necessarily different cars.

Great info but in a previous post it was stated that the cars have 2 different plate numbers
