Agreed but I think just looking at charger vs challenger you would see the v6 ratio much higher for the charger.
And let's not forget the Challenger came back before the Camaro. Dodge clearly wanted a piece of the pie. But with all the instability of the company, I don't believe they ever had the ability to beat the mustang or camaro in sales. Lack or commitment from the higher ups, too big, mopar reliability, lack luster v6...pick an excuse. Maybe they have gave up on trying. If so it goes to show you why FCA is in the position it is.
