The throwing your arms up in disgust over a car not having a built in (or possibly not having) a locking gas cap is the "first world problem" - as in being overly upset about a such a small thing. As said, the system is designed so you can't siphon gas out.
As I said, locks only keep your friends out anyways. My G8 has a locking gas door, but if someone wanted it open its a small screwdriver pop away from accessing. If someone wants access to your fuel filler to put crap in or pull gas out, scratching your paint won't slow them down.
