Crash test standards are different for convertibles. That is why we can have them and not worry about a b-pillar. The amount of engineering a coupe with no b-pillar and meet crash test standards would drastically raise the price of the Camaro. We have to put up with the b-pillar in order to be able to have the car built in a reasonable price range.

Other, high end coupes can get away with because the price tag for those cars put them in a entire different category and clientele base. A clientele base who doesn't care about spending a ton of money on a coupe.
Minor correction but words mean things and some of the younger crowd needs to know: When talking a two or four door with no B-Pillar it is referred to as a Hardtop. A coupe is a two door with a B-pillar. Look at 67 GTOs, some are hardtops (most) some (few) are called coupes (B-Pillar).

That said, I would throw money at a new Camaro "hardtop". Driving a 2 dr hardtop with all 4 windows down and the B-pillar gone is something you just have to do to appreciate the experience of hardtop.
