weeeeeell......looks like I was wrong, my computer was never 64 bit compatible.
So next question, does anyone know if I can change out the cpu to one that's 64 bit? I have a Dell XPS 8100. I believe I currently have the i7, but not sure which one.
and looking further into it, it seems all the i7 processors that are available for the xps 8100 are 64 bit. i'm so confused.

although I can't find anything about the i7 750. I think it's a typo and should be i5 750, which is also 64 bit, I believe.
