V6 6th gen vs V8 4th gen ... I give the 4th the edge
V8 4th gen vs SS 5th gen ... I give the 5th the edge

so ... V6 6th gen vs V8 5th, I give the 5th a decent edge.

I say its a stretch because I look at things with all other elements being equal. Could a great driver behind the wheel of a 6th gen V6 beat a newb in a 5th gen SS? Sure. But would I expect an average 6th gen owner to beat an average 5th gen SS owner? Nope, and from the looks of your post ... neither do you. Be 'afraid' or 'worried' or 'scared' of what is normal ... not what is rare.
