I put the first one together back when I was autocrossing and used it as a chest strap just around me and the seat back. The last car I autocrossed with any seriousness had good grippy cloth seats, and the strap was still worth the better part of a full second on ~45 second courses. I wouldn't wear a chest strap on the street or out on the big tracks where there is at least the potential for a roll-over at highway speed.

The later ones I wrap under the seat (behind the tracks) and basically runs over top of the lap portion of the OE 3-point and is buckled last. So far, it hasn't let the OE belt slacken under any driving maneuvers (which includes a 75 mph spin)

I made two of the later belts, in order that an instructor or other passenger (I'm signed off to run solo) would have a restraint system comparable to what I was using. They're nowhere near as good as harnesses, but are a clear step up from the OE belts that are intentionally allowed to go slack as you move around in the seat (this probably to get most people willing to use seat belts at all). After riding along with me for a session, one instructor mentioned that he was going to pass along the idea to his student that day . . .

I'll see if I can get a picture showing how it runs.
