Why do people constantly equate the ATS with this new Camaro? While they share the Alpha platform, the Camaro is not an ATS with just a different skin on it. What the Alpha weighs in ATS configuration versus what is might weigh in Camaro configuration is unlikely to be apples-to-apples.

Why? Because its pretty much spot on what the Camaro will be sans wheels/body panels. I would expect the Camaro V6 to weigh probably about 3550lbs...and the V8 to be around 3700lbs...
That gives us the roughly 200lbs drop per model, and it improves fuel economy.
