I will be interested to see if the weight savings claims bear out in real life, or if they disappoint us like Ford did to the Mustang enthusiasts.
But based on what GM has said publicly, and what they are telling members of the press, I actually think GM may be *sandbagging* a bit on the weight savings and that it will be MORE than 200lbs across the board.
Comments like this one from Autoblog "Though the new car is said to be more than 200 pounds lighter, that's a blanket number that applies to the entire Camaro range. The V6 model is actually about 300 pounds lighter, and that difference is apparent in our back-to-back drives. "

If thats true, and its looking increasingly harder to discount, then we are probably looking at a 34xx V6 and maybe even a sub 3700 1SS. That is going to be a killer combo.
The Camaro 6th gen weight claim seems to be the big debate amongst a couple of my Mustang pals and on their forums. One of my track buddies has a new GTPP and always talked about the "extra 300lb fat chick in the passenger seat" in my 1LE to get under my skin. But when the news broke that the new stang was heavier, and when the C&D comparison came out and their "weight as tested" showed my 1LE was 3884 and his GTPP was 3810...well he stopped bringing it up. Maybe because I weigh 150 and he weighs about 240, which makes my car lighter :-)
Would love to see a 1SS with mag ride, recaros, and 6sp in the upper 3600s and a 2SS at 3700.
