This seems to be happening with GM lately. The studio in Shanghai has taken the lead in a lot of their cars lately.
I remember a story about a year or so ago about how some new Cadillac didn't do well in a Chinese clinic. The people in the clinic said they were too aggressive looking. So they watered down the design. I think it was a CTS clinic.
So the Chinese got what they wanted and GM just rammed that design down the Americans' throats, not caring that we would have preferred the more aggressive design.
