It's possible only because of the shared development possibility with the ATS. Or possibly just ATS-V parts. The 5th gen had no one to share the cost unlike the 6th gen.
With that being said, I doubt it. The V6 is the volume seller to fund the tinkering on the v8 cars. Always has been. And the v6 is better than ever so they are less worried about it. And if you really want better performance, (assuming they continue to) they offer the 1LE suspension or Z-28 that can be retrofitted to any of the cars.

It's a Dingledarm. It's there to dampen side fumbling. If your marzelvanes fumble too much they can cause total protonic reversal. It gets ugly from there. This is really the biggest problem with the new Camaro. That and the tri-pronged blivot.
