An interesting topic as I am from Texas but now live in Ottawa, Canada capitol city. Would you believe in the nations capitol city there were only six murders with handguns last year, one being the attack on Parliament last year. Compare those stats with Washington DC. Personally not making a comment regarding people who legally carry a handgun, just referencing cultural differences.

My cousin in SC, a most upstanding country club soccer mom southern lady. Cousin and all other southern ladies in her upscale neighborhood all carry. A few years ago on X-mass eve, three homes in their neighborhood were broken into. So all the neighbor ladies got together, did their gun training together, so now all the ladies carry guns in their designer handbags. But they are now trained in the use of firearms and have legal carry permits. When cuz explained the difficulties driving from one state to another with her gun I laughed so hard it brought tears to my eyes. Ok to keep her gun in her purse (concealed) in one state while driving, cross the border to another state and best to leave the gun on the passage seat (not concealed). She complained to me it was so complicated she had her daughter print off which states she can keep her gun concealed, and which states her gun should be exposed. Please understand cuz not good with internet searches. But her daughter, my second cousin, who is more internet smart, also a former city, state, regional & USA runner up teenage beauty queen is very knowledgeable when and where you can carry a handgun. I once asked my 2nd cousin, in jest, how do you carry a gun under your form fitting full length formal gowns. Without a blink she showed be a holster that can be strapped to her upper inner leg. Stupid, I asked isn't that uncomfortable. She replied it was no more uncomfortable than a man trying to prove his manhood. I dropped the issue fast as that was too much info. My second cousin is like a daughter to me so some things best not discussed.

Cuz coming to visit me in Ottawa next summer. I have warned her I know for sure two items she can not bring with her to Canada. Her gun and grits. Can not get grits in Canada. Every time southern relatives try to send me grits, grits are confiscated as fast as cocaine at customs. Love living in Canada, don't miss having the right to a handgun, but I do miss my right to eat grits.
