GM is honoring the warranty and will let you play harder than anyone in the industry while in warranty. If it ramps up to full after break in, no harm no foul.

It matters because GM has an image problem to repair and this isn't helping. The amount of bad press that GM has gained from this is fairly impressive, and at least in the near term the Z06 has been stained with a bad rep.
That's a *bad* thing for a car that GM needs to be a top tier performer
