Ford openly said a long time ago that they were moving away from the retro themed design language that drove the 2005 to 2014 Mustangs design.
Just like the 2014 Camaro refresh, the 6th generation Mustang has taken some time to grow on people, myself included. Now that the design has been out in the open for about 10 months I think you will find a lot of people liking it.
for the record, the design is more European then Japanese influenced
