It doesn't need to be lower...it just needs to be close, which it is....and for the money you get more features, better mpgs, and more towing.
Sure, the truck still might need to "prove" itself or whatever, but that doesn't mean its not worth the Toyota's price.
The reason the Tacoma has such a high resale value is because its the most sought after midsize truck, and that's b/c the competition just isn't there. These are the buyers that don't want fullsize and will pay the premium price to have a decent truck that they can fit in their garage.
Later on, once we get closer to MY15 year end, if GM is willing to deal on these trucks, Toyota is going to have to deal as well, as I hear right now they don't offer much incentives at all on the Taco.
