Two track events ago there was a loaded 392 Challenger running around the track and it did well but did not hold a candle to the ZL1's. The 392's driver was the most experienced out of all of us too.

Great track times are more of a marketing gimmick for the general public the sad truth is most people do not run their car around the track at all so realistically it doesn't matter to them. MOST people will be drag racing or stop light racing these cars, in which case the Hellcat will likely be top dog (maybe a drivers race between it and the GT500).

Currently the market has a pony car that appeals to just about anyone's taste. If you want to road race Chevy offers the best product right now with the 1LE, ZL1 & Z/28. If you want to drag race Dodge and Ford have you covered with the Hellcat, 392 and GT500. Not to say that you can't drag race with a Camaro or road course race with a Challenger / Mustang.
Pretty much agree with everything you said........
