Nice post Doug, it's like this...
If I had a friend that I had met when we were freshmen in college, and if I knew that guy for 16 to 17 years. And if I had been over to that guy's house to have dinner with his family, and he and his family had been to my house for dinner. And if that friend were a cop. And if that friend had told me he would offer what help if he could with minor local legal issues so long as they didn't involve alcohol(DUI), I certainly wouldn't be blabbing his name and department on the internet.
Look, I was feeling frisky one day and tore out of a red light right in front of a sheriff's deputy. He pulled over and waited on me. I pulled up next to him. He checked my license and turned me loose. But what would I have really said if he had written me a ticket. Absolutely nothing except "my bad." Not his bad, I was the one being a dumbass.
