I don't think the IRS will be a problem for most Mustang fans. Despite the success Ford has had tuning the live axle, we are sick of the 'truck axle' focus by the press. There appears to me to be more interest in the Boss cars on the track than the Cobra Jets on the strip. It's time for an IRS and we expect a damn good one.

For those who are seriously into drag racing, it looks like there will be a kit from Ford Racing to convert to solid axle.

Almost no one on Mustang6G is complaining about the steering wheel. What's the problem?

Lower, wider, lower seating, lower COG, better visibility than Camaro. What's not to like about that?

Besides possible embarrassment about a 'fat pig', I can think of three more likely reasons for not announcing final weight.
1. Waiting for the F-150 announcement. Ford's big dog will be announced at the Detroit AS and it's big story for 2014 will be its weight loss. Approx. 700lb. I suspect the Mustang's weight loss will be announced after the F150 so not to steal any thunder. I just can't imagine Ford wanting to announce a weight gain on the Mustang after announcing a 700 lb weight loss on the F150. Ain't going to happen.
2. Sitting in the bushes as long as possible while Team Camaro finalizes plans for Camaro6G. If the Mustang's weight turns out to be less than the expected Camaro6G, then sending Oppi back to the drawing board later rather than earlier would be a good thing for Ford.
3. They don't know yet. They are still in pre-production. Not all production parts are available as yet.
