Thanks for the input everyone. I've heard 8.1 was a vast improvement over 8. I'll PROBABLY go that direction. I'm going to stick with the optical drive just in case she needs to burn a disc for someone...Plus I don't think Fry's carries an OEM system building on a thumb drive and I don't really want to go through the extra step of creating an iso.

How's the rest of the hardware? Any concerns?
