You can legally own mags with greater than 10 round capacity, also. They only became illegal to buy or sell after 2000 but there are legals ways to get them even now.

If you are at a shooting range, that is not open carry, as that is a private establishment. To get it there, you put it in a case, or bag. Open carry is for public places...
