Im nowhere near an expert but, What are your plans with your next purchase? Just go out and have a good time shooting?
I love my 1911 and would love to get a SIG556. I have the .22 version and its pretty fun and cheap to shoot.

Prices last time I checked were $1.00 per round for .223 and $0.40-0.50 per round for .45 rounds

That being said if you're anything like me you'll get both eventually. So go with what you feel first. If you can go shoot different rifles or handguns go for it!
