From WJHL-TV11 news:
A soft lockdown at Gate City middle and high schools is over after two high school students threatened to kill another student on Facebook.
The lockdown was lifted just after 11:00 a.m. Friday.
According to the Scott County Sheriff John Puckett, officers learned two Gate City High School students threatened to shoot another student on Facebook.
Both students who made the threat, a teenage girl and boy, are in custody and charges are pending
The sheriff says the boy confessed he would help the female kill another student. A motive is still unclear, but Sheriff Puckett believes it has to do with bullying.
Puckett says the state police's canine unit cleared the high school and is working to clear the middle school.
The school system will operate on a normal schedule today, but law enforcement will remain on school grounds throughout the day as a precaution.
Parents can take their kids out of school if they want to.
Previous story
Friday morning, Gate City Middle and High Schools, Schumaker Elementary, and the Scott County Career andTechnical School were placed on a soft lockdown.
"There was an indirect threat made by two students against another individual at GCHS. The incident is currently under investigation by VSP and local law enforcement. There have been many stories circulating on social media, but the individuals involved have been identified and charges are pending and these individuals no longer have access to our school grounds," Greg Ervin, Gate City High School Principal.
Under a soft lockdown, students can move freely throughout the building, but they cannot leave the building.
"Any potential threat has been addressed and the school has been cleared by the state police K-9 unit. While we understand the concern of parents when a threat is made, we currently have additional law enforcement officers on school grounds throughout the school day as a precaution. We will continue to operate on a normal schedule," said Principal Ervin.

...So the moral of the story is don't threaten retaliation, you will get into as much or more trouble...
Hope the threats your grand-daughter received are taken as seriously as the one's from the girl who was bullied, and threatened retaliation...
