The PCV system has two sides. They are referred to as the "clean side" (responsible for about 5% of the problem) and the "dirty side" (responsible for 95% of the problem). The 1LE includes includes a "clean side" oil separator where the aftermarket catch cans you see are for the "dirty side". The optimal solution is running both.
