4k is not going anywhere and it's just a matter of when you want it and how much you want to pay. 1080p TVs are rock bottom prices now, because of 4k. Some would just now be buying 1080p and others paying top dollar for 4k.

My 1080p has lasted me a long time and well worth the extra $$ getting it early. IMO
