Size and lifting strength don't go hand in hand.

There are guys 30-40 lbs lighter than me at the gym who can bench just as much as I can. Don't underestimate the power of lean muscle.

Look at Robert Griffin III for example. Granted, he is a freak of nature, he is rather lean and not bulky. Guy can lift and bench a whole hell of a lot.

If you truly want to get big, lift heavy weight for low reps. Do it a lot. 5 sets of 5 reps for certain lifts is a good rule of thumb to build strength. In terms of eating? Eat anything and everything. Obviously lots of protein is helpful for muscle strength and growth, but continuously eating more calories on daily basis will contribute to a gain in mass.

However, I highly urge you to reconsider. It is much easier to put on mass then it is to lose. I am one of the 'bigger' guys you see at the gym. Yes, I lift a lot and am strong. However, I work EXTREMELY hard and eat EXTREMELY diligently to keep my mass down as I work to reduce it to be quicker and faster and more agile. I watch every calorie I put in, I run about 25 miles per week, I do high-rep, low-weight exercises for time. Anything I can to get leaner while maintaining strength. It is MUCH easier to get stronger while being lean than the other way around.
