I still believe it's true that the new GT500 was benchmarked off the GT, becUse the Boss was on it's tail, but they also know full well that it's Camaro/Firebird vs Mustang (even when the GM entry was non existent).
I remember when Camaros were blowing 2v 4.6 cars out of the water in straight lines (sound familiar ?) but Ford guys didn't say well, GM isn't comparing the Mustang to us anymore because they're shooting higher.... It's just part of the progression.
I think it might sting for (key word here) SOME c5 members simply because they took the hype and the overwhelming performance promises for "over face value" and obviously can't cash them in.
All in all, you guys know you don't like your ZL1s any less because another car is faster. Same as I don't like my GT500 any leas because it'll get drilled by a zr-1, or a new viper, or a....

I do hope Ford does bring out a competitor for the Corvette. A nice 2-seater, twin turboed, all wheel drive beast that will make Godzilla (GT-R) owners nervous.

Furthermore, If the Corvette is the ceiling for the Camaro (which I agree with you) that's GM's problem. That doesn't automatically leave it up to the Corvette to fight the Camaro's fight.

Camaro, on the other hand, just has a resonance that's more in tune with my own "style" or persona. I may work in management, not have a mullet, and I don't live in a trailer park, but I do love me some Camaros.
ZL1 gets bitch-slapped in the nose a little bit and the non-believers run off with their tail between their legs. To me, the fight just started. Camaro will hit back.
