One bad day and people start shooting innocent people, that's not cool.
I've never, ever heard during a psychopathic rampage the psycho getting shot by a legal gun owner. Why is that, when so many people have the right to carry guns?
The theory that everyone has a right to carry a gun to defend themselves sounds great on paper but really doesn't work because it rarely ever happens that some gun owner shoots someone in a life / death situation.
Usually, innocent people get hurt or worse by some regular schmuck that couldn't deal with society anymore and when he snapped, loaded up his "legal" carry firearm and started popping shots in people.
That's why strict gun controls and laws work. So, few people want to take the time to learn how to handle firearms safely to get their permit and the 6-12mos. application process, they rather blow off steam drinking beer and getting into the occasional fist fight and go home.
Our "strict" gun legislation came into effect when that same thing happened here in Montreal, our government took the proper measures to ensure anyone who wants a firearm needs to go through strict training and application process to make sure people who own guns are stable minded people. It's just good common sense, and sometimes just because it's right doesn't mean it should be a privileged right for everybody.

No offence Calbert, but I say BULLCHIT! In Canada its all smoke n mirrors, gun registry was a joke made to pacify people ,did absolutely nothing to prevent crime! Criminals don't register their guns! Handguns have had to be registered for over 25 years that i know of.Yet the no 1 gun used by criminals are handguns smuggled into Canada from the U.S.Not stolen from law abiding gun owners like people are led to believe!
When guns become restricted because they are black, then we have a problem.I agree 100% with the training and background checks. The gun used for the shootings you are referring too in Montreal, is still legal to be purchased with a reg Pal ,like it was before the shootings!
I have had guns all my life, yes handguns too, I have never had the urge to shoot people, even if i was mad at them. You can introduce a million new guns laws and you won't be any safer. A criminal does not follow the law. These laws are introduced to pacify the people thats all,It looks like they are doing something but they are not! Heres a quote from the first leader to impliment gun registration!
"This year will go down in history. For the first time a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police will be more efficient and the world will follow our lead into the future!" Signed
ADOLPH HITLER!
