y2k king, thanks for sharing your story. Thanks to everyone here for posting their stories and suggestions and commitment to help fellow members.
I am preparing to quit. I ordered a brand new Camaro as a reward and still waiting to find out the build date. I have patches and lozenges ready to go. Tomorrow will be day 1. I have the next week off work to get thru without going postal on my co-workers.
I lost my mother to cancer in '98, she was 49. I am 38 and I just had a scare with my thyroid. I have a few cysts, which have been looked at by ultrasound and then biopsied and I got the word on monday that they are benign and that there is no reason medically to remove them, but I can elect to if I wish to. I have decided not to because there are others that need surgery more than I do and I don't want to make them wait.
I am relieved and now more motivated than ever to change my ways. I don't know how many get out of jail free cards I have left in my life but this one got my attention. My husband is a Dodge guy and we are trading his old Dodge Dakota for the Camaro, and it's all mine so long as I quit smoking. I can't wait for the car to arrive, and be able to smell the brand new car smell that has escaped me for the last 22 years.
I'd like to express my gratitude to everyone who has shared their story and words of encouragement, it has given me the strength and motivation to follow thru. For now though, I must go clean out our other DD and freshen it up and get rid of all the smoking stuff so that when I wake up in the morning there will be nothing to entice me back to the dark side....Peace!
