Car and Driver got a 12.3 from the ZL1, Motor trend got a slightly better 12.1. Seems pretty close to me, so i don't see how the 13 GT500 with it's added HP, better suspension, and launch control could possibly NOT be quicker than the ZL1????

Look for today's post on the Motor Trend test. Motor Trend's best test driver says clearly the ZL1 ran under 12 seconds there's a thread on it. If that's the case, the 2011 GT500 is on the average a half second slower. The 2013 GT500 could very possibly and most probably will be faster than the ZL1...it should be with a huge weight and HP advantage, but not by much. The advantage is that Ford now knows what the performance of the ZL1 is, they WON"T release the GT500 until it beats the ZL1. They did that with the 5.0 Mustang. When the Mustang 5.0 was in it's planned production configuration, it wouldn't beat a Camaro SS and couldn't match the HP...what did Ford do, they added Tubular headers and Ford racing CAI. That gave them the slight advantage they needed. The GT 500 will follow that pattern.
