You assume they're/we're all wrong by default. Which is fair, I guess: setting expectations low will usually result in the greatest happiness - a mentality I can appreciate 100%! However...if they're not wrong -- what reason do they have to hold back? Much more interesting to guesstimate now and have a little fun in the process?
EDIT: On the other side of the same coin -- if a person is confident Al and the "ZL1 evangelists" (don't know what that means)
ARE wrong...why try so hard to stop them from falling flat on their faces when the '13 Mustang is released? If I were you, I might think it would be fun to see them humiliate themselves.

It doesn't...when you're a qualified powertrain engineer working for the world's largest automaker (and the resources that come with it). It seems like everyone keeps overlooking that little detail as though they used Forza 4 or something....
