This is my first dog since I was growing up, but my parents always got a dog as the other one was aging. Kind of a nice way to keep the older dog occupied as it gets older and to allow the younger dog to learn from the older one. My sister kind of copied the same thing, but her dog got a herniated disk and recovered without surgery amazingly. But since she can't run and jump like she used to, my sister got a puppy to keep the older dog company

Our goldendoodle is so well behaved for a puppy and we love her like a child already. If you look into getting one, since they're a mixed breed, be sure to go with a breeder that has a long track record of breeding certain sires and bitches... Because you really never know what you're going to get in regards to looks of the puppies on the first try Our neighbor has a goldendoodle that looks completely different from ours. Ours has a much thicker coat and he was bread with a lighter poodle than ours was, so he looks white. He's also very cute, but ours has so much soft fur that it's like a teddy bear! So it pays to be picky and find well established breeder... Ours looks more like the kind you see most frequently and will probably become the breed standard if they continue to breed future generations. We're quickly learning that doodles require a lot of grooming as well. But she's very low shedding so it's a trade-off...
