Yeah, your using the wrong cat. Step 1, get a tomcat. Step two, keep it outside. Step three don't feed it, or feed it very little. So little that it forces the cat to still get food for itself. As long as the cat doesn't train you, and you train the cat. It should take care of your problem when the cat gets bigger and stronger. It takes a tough cat to bring down a cardinal.

My cat was a badas$ when he was home. He would leave for a week at a time and go back to the woods for food. I saw him pick a robin off in mid air once. Man, I wish I had a camera on me at the time. Freaking hilarious. My mom didn't think it was very funny though, because she like robins and all.
