We have some strange laws here too, but I guess they are all in the interest of safety.
I just remember the time I had to spend 2 weeks in Germany and a co-worker and I had a rented Mercedes. We decided to take a trip to southern Germany one Sunday (trucks were not permitted on the Autobahn on Sundays and traffic was extremely light that morning) and topped out at 240 KPH (149 MPH) for a good stretch.
We kept a steady 200 KPH and were passed several times!!! What an experience that was!! Would love to take my Camaro for a ride like that over there because I'm surely not going to try that here!!
