Richie was NINE-TIME NASCAR Modified Champion...and simply didn't want to trek "South". He beat the likes of Geoff Bodine (the first to "migrate", and the first NASCAR driver hired by Mr. Rick Hendrick - you recognize THAT name, don't you?!), Jimmy Spencer, Steve Park, and others who eventually went "South". 480 combined wins, and 28 Championships, total.

His induction opens the door for all manner of deserving-but-relatively-unknown drivers to enter the hallowed Hall..
