Dick, through a small Chev dealer in LaHarpe IL by the name of Fred Gibb, solicited Vince Piggins (Chevrolet Product Promotion) to authorize a Central Office Production Order (coded #9560) for 50 '69 Camaros with all-aluminum 427s from the Corvette. Those cars became known as "ZL1"s (after the Corvette option code for that-there screamin' engine), 19 others were ordered by other dealers...and a BUNCH were returned by Gibb to Chevrolet when the invoices showed up with an option price that was about 150% of a Base Camaro's price! $4,130 was a HUGE amount of money...for an ENGINE Package...in 1969!!!
