It's the Rich Rod mentality. Try to outscore your opponents. Ultimately it does not work. You need a stout defense, and LSU and Alabama have it and is why one of those teams will be the national champion. Thing is, why is it that so many of these spread teams suck azz on defense. I don't get it. It's not like they have a salary cap.
I think defensive coaching is becoming a lost art.
