Anyway I bought DCS Blackshark and yes the startup is hard without printouts, lol. Using a Logitech 3D Pro that was getting worn out and couldnt control the helo well anymore. Sort of stopped playing it for a while.
Then it was time for the Release of A-10C Warthog, awesome, bought it. Joystick still a piece of crap. Started research and wound up buying the A10C HOTAS http://www.thrustmaster.com/product.aspx?ProductID=221
Awesome heavy duty stick and throttle, and I do mean heavy. The only proble with this was that it is tough to use with a helo. Was also looking at this one http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/x65f.html
which would have worked well with helos although the stick does not move as it is a force sensing stick.
Another awesome sim is Lock On Flaming Cliffs 2. You dont have to worry too much about hundreds of clickable buttons. I have played this one the most with the A10 HOTAS and it does work excellant.
Also if you dont have it yet a must have for sims is this http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/
Here is a video with Blackshark and using TrackIR.

I'm going to look into that A-10C HOTAS stick. I had a Thrustmaster Throttle and Joystick that was quite good, but it was serial, and doesn't work with most modern sims anymore. I have a Thrustmasterr USB Joystick, but it doesn't have the full complement of buttons that a true combat sim needs. Since I had really just been doing Microsoft Flight Simulator more recently, didn't really need that functionality.
Now that I'm getting back into the hardcore stuff, I need to update my input hardware. I definately was having a hard time deciding between Blackhawk and the Warthot sims...I'll probably get the Blackhawk one as well. And I was looking at Lock On as well...
