If you have never been there its a must see, we just happened to be close by and stopped. Loads of people from Japan were there today. Well, yes I do know of Nicola Tesla, the inventor of the alternating current dynamo which has remade the world. George westinghouse swindled the well-meaning Tesla out of a fortune. So what else is new?
The diverted water CAN indeed be rerouted over the falls rather easily. Suggestions to this effect have been made, yet so far those that exploit the river downstream have been able to nix that suggestion. They claim that their petty interests outweigh the integrity of the falls for everyone. :(
They COULD make the adjustment, given the time to arrange their riverside businesses. The world should not be held hostage to the selfish peculations of a handful of naysayers.
According to accounts from pre-diversion days, the Niagara Falls were a "primeval thunder" unheard since the beginning of the World. I for one would hella like to witness that.
