Why can't we just stop subsidizing farmers to not grow corn?
The Camaro gets better gas mileage than my 4 banger 4x4 pickup. Go figure.
Thats because corn prices don't go up because of ethanol usage. The price of corn, or any other food, goes up largely because energy prices go up, which also causes a greater demand for cheaper ethanol fuel thus providing the link between greater ethanol usage and higher corn prices. People tend to ignore the fact that other crops such as potatoes, carrots, and beans also go up pretty much in lock-step with corn.
