Veins are superficial. Arteries lay deeper.

Veins have bicuspid valves.

Blood vessels made up of three layers: Outermost = tunica adventitia, middle = tunica media, inner = tunica intima.

Tunica adventitia made up of connective tissue.

Systolic pressure = blood moving out of heart, contraction. Diastolic = heart filling with blood.

Aneurysm = bulge in blood vessel, can lead to severe hemorrhaging.

Capillaries branch off from metarterioles. Sphincters control blood flow to capillary bed.

Formation of new capillary beds = angiogenesis. Facilitated by pericytes.

Biscuspid valves in veins open/close in response to blood pressure.

Sinuses located in liver/spleen/brain.

Varicose veins caused by backflow of blood in veins.
