And some kids will lie to their friends and say they have drank when they really haven't. Those numbers seem reasonable to me. Figure 39% of kids 12-17 would mean that nearly everyone in the 16-17 range has drank, while relatively few in the 12-13 range have, with 14-15 being somewhere in the middle, but skewed towards not drinking. Seems about right to me.

Now, for the 6% that have had 40+ days of drinking, that may seem low but the more I think about it, the more reasonable it becomes. Figure 40 days is about once a month for 3 and a half years, or once every other week for a year and a half, or once every week for 9 months ... thats a pretty difficult pace for a kid in highschool to keep up.
