As much as I'd like to agree that compliments work well on women, it's been my experience that if you do compliment, they think that you are putting them on a pedestal and that you are a chump!
I know, I know...But if you tell a girl something like, "Hey are your nails real?" (even though they obviously are), they will subconsciously try to win your approval.

Okay, this is also a great idea...now what if some other fool were to come in and swoop on her and be "that" guy? She will think that it was him all along that put the rose on her locker or even worse, forget all about the rose because this new fool "swept her off her feet"?
